china daily

Hey there, it's been awhile since i updated the blog..

Here is another story of mine about my daily life..

Well, some people say that living in China is like living in paradise (*shopaholics, don't cha agree with me?!). You can get sooo many stuffs with cheap price here which I dont really agree with this statement. It's because they can easily tell that you're a laowai (means foreigner) eventhough you have chinese face like me :( and because of that, they will do the rip off thing. And then what you get is not what you want, a.k.a the price will increase far away beyond your expectation. Actually for me living in China is kinda stressing (*at least, I do think so). It's not only because of the rip off thing. But also because of sooo many things, the culture, the food that I am sick of, etc. and the most important thing is.. I couldnt open facebook, youtube, blog (*so how did i get to open this page? thx God that You inspire people to create proxy. But I should say great job for everyone that is contributing and dedicating their lives to make "the great wall" a.k.a chinese firewall for the entire china mainland. so we who need to be connected with the outside world through facebook feel so desperate and isolated). But hey let's get over with the above topics. Because the title today is THE INDEPENDENCE DAY OF CHINA. Guess what?! Yes, you are right! HOLIDAY!!!

In China when it comes to October, you will have a one-week holiday. It is called the Golden Week. Today is the first day of the one-week holiday, Oct 1, the independence day of China. I thought that there will be extremely enormous number of people flocking along the road on a parade or somewhat grand. But nah, the road was empty, the buses were empty and NICE (*as usually they are so filled with passengers, I mean it! you dont even need to hold on to anything but your belongings because you will never move any single tiny bits of footstep). But in some places, people did flocking, for example the walking street and the bar street (*we call those so). So as my tips for today, don't go to those places during national holiday. Today I went to my friend's place, a great getaway from my daily boring routine. From her place then we went to the newly opened shopping center! (*finally they build one here that's really looks like a shopping center). Suzhou is an ancient town. Old people live happily ever after here. They will just spend some quality time with their grandchildren or dancing or playing chess or practicing taichi everyday. With many scenic spots, it's famous gardens and canals, museums, plus a really bad zoo (*I went there once and I'll never going back again). So it's great to have a real shopping center, as usually in small city like Suzhou people don't really go to shopping center. You will spot there are many shopping center that's empty.

I spent the first time of the holiday hanging out with friends. Tomorrow is the day when all Indonesians are supposed to wear batik to show our nationalism. So I'll be going for shopping with my friends in batik (*will post the pics tomorrow). On Oct 3, it's the moon cake festival. Let's see what's gonna happen for the next 2 days. Probably I will have a sleepover, eat mooncakes while gazing the fullmoon at the clear sky.
